Sébastien Thiel is our gifted master chef behind all the amazing Gérard's recipes. This boy from Brussels travelled all the way to France to get his education in Lyon, the very capital of gastronomy, at Institut Paul Bocuse. After finishing his studies, he started working as an assistant to the head chef in of the most important palaces of Paris and then as a chef in a 2 stars Michelin restaurant in Belgium.
After all this wonderful work experience, he decided to do a master degree at Vlerick Business School in innovation & entrepreneurship, where he met Marion and Philippe, and then together they launched the very innovative Gérard bakery.His favorite Gérard Bakery treat is the Craquelin, a brioche with a supreme tender crust.
Marion Waterkeyn is the multi-tasking star of the team, at the age of only 24, she works taking care of the website, making sure all the orders are coming correctly, contacting suppliers and working on the marketing section.
This girl from Antwerp travelled all the way to the United States to get her education at Rider University in New Jersey, where she got her Business degree in Finance & Accounting. In her free time, she likes to play field hockey and tennis. She also loves musical theatres, traveling and going out with friends, marvellous, isn't it? Her favorite Gérard Bakery treat is the very classic Chocolate bread, what an exquisite choice!
Philippe Bossens is the person doing all the finances & strategy for Gérard, and he also is the lead in marketing. He's got a degree in applied economics from KU Leuven and also two more master degrees in international business strategies and innovation and innovation and entrepreneurship.
He's passionate about making a beautiful product while working on the operational efficiency of it. In his free time, he likes to take photographs and to make videos, that's why all Gérard's photos are so nicely done. Apart from that, he likes cooking and therefore Gérard Bakery is a beautiful merger between his passions. His favorite Gérard Bakery treat is the delicious cinnamon roll!
Pieter-Jan Philips, also known as PJ, is our incredible tech enthusiast from Ghent! He works exploring how technology can transform ideas into practical solutions. From creating apps to optimising delivery systems, he's always eager to turn concepts into reality. What drives him? The belief that technology should simplify our lives! PJ enjoys the challenge of finding innovative solutions to make businesses and everyday tasks smoother, so let’s use tech to make things better for everyone, shall we? How it all started...
Gérard Bakery is the successful result of an university project between Séb, Marion and Philippe, who were all doing a master degree at Vlerick Business School in innovation & entrepreneurship. They needed to launch a concept for this assignment, so in 2 days, they gathered all the necessary materials and set up a pop-up bakery in a small basement in Leuven! As you may imagine, this went very well and that’s how they decided to amplify their concept by moving to Brussels in March 2023. Where they built a food-approved atelier in Haren, in a ghost bakery concept, which the clients don't need to walk in to get their goodies.
