GÉRARD BAKERY

Sesame Bagel

Sesame Bagel

Our Baguel bread is typical New York style! Characterized by a slightly salty crumb, it is made from 100% sourdough fermentation and is parboiled during the first baking in salted water (which allows it to retain all its softness). This small bread, sprinkled with sesame seeds, can be enjoyed with smoked salmon, a poached egg, or a bit of salty cream cheese (personally, I always put everything together for even more deliciousness).

Unlike its Montreal cousin, the New York bagel is slightly wider with a more closed center hole. That's why we decided to share this somewhat more indulgent recipe with you!

Fun fact: It seems that originally the bagel was invented to represent the courage and bravery of the King of Poland's cavalry horses! Round with a hole in the center, the bagel is said to represent the hooves of the King of Poland's horses 🐎
